Rev. Melissa J. Claxton was appointed to First UMC of Warren in July of 2018, bringing with her a passion for the church and the church’s role in transforming the world into the community of God through one act of love and kindness at a time.  She is firmly grounded in her belief that God’s love is for everyone, and the church is a community of people dedicated to sharing that love with the world.  A defining scripture passage for her comes from Micah 6:8 which reminds us to “Seek justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with God.”

On a personal note, Pastor Melissa is married to her best friend Ed.  Together, they have five children – Krystal, Jennifer, Jessica, Britnee, and Joshua – as well as eight grandchildren and a few furry babies that can sometimes be found roaming the building during the week.
