Pastor's Corner
Greetings In the name of Jesus, and on behalf of the People of Warren First Church!
I am so pleased you
are taking the time to “check us out” via our web site.
I hope what you find here will whet your curiosity to the point
where you will join us for one of the experiences you find on this site!
I believe you will find this congregation a diverse group of
welcoming people whom you will be comfortable.
There are a wide variety of opportunities to engage in Christian
living here. Some are
engaged in living out their faith by active engagement in meeting human
needs, locally, others are concerned with what is happening in Haiti,
Liberia, and more recently in the Gulf states.
Others are interested in study activities across a variety
of subjects… Some in rather
intense Bible Study (“Discipleship”
study.) Others
are engaged in meeting local human needs and have received training to
be prepared to do that, through “Stephens Ministry” training.
Many are active in worship leadership.
We have two distinct styles of worship here—one is “Old Time
Religion” which meets at 9:00 a.m. during fall –spring.
This service contains many familiar forms of worship.
The 10:30 a.m. service is called “High Impact” and brings more
eclectic and active styles of engagement to worship.
One never quite knows what might happen at this service.
We don’t call it “contemporary” because we don’t have a praise
band, and don’t want to raise false expectations.
Prayer is a vital part of our life together.
We have an active prayer team, a prayer shawl ministry, and
prayer is an important part of our worship
experience. One must be present to fully understand what is meant
by that.
Fellowship and friendship is another part of the Warren
experience. We take time to
play together. We have a
large children’s ministry; our youth program is growing.
Our men meet monthly for breakfast, and our women are very active
and have a program with a lot of vitality.
Our vision statement helps one understand the nature of our
living together:
We envision First United Methodist Church of Warren as a healthy, holy branch of the Tree of Life. We see our church rooted deeply in scripture, alive and growing in Christ, renewed by the Spirit of God, and developing and sharing our gifts with all.
We invite you to come and be a part of our life together.
