Missions
The mission ministry of The First United Methodist Church of Warren is multi-dimensional in scope. The first thing that we do is interpret missional needs both locally and abroad. We raise funds for mission projects and personnel both in the southeast Michigan area and around the world. The United Methodist Church has many projects that are compiled in a book called "Spotlight Jubilee." Our church has decided to give most of the funds raised to the "General Jubilee" fund in order that our contributions will go to the most needy mission projects around the world. Much of the mission work in the United Methodist Church is done by the United Methodist Women, a group of dedicated ladies who believe that it is our Christian duty to reach out to people in need. Although the UMW has its own projects to which they contribute, the missions of Warren First as a whole could not be complete without the UMW.
Some of our mission activities and projects include:
Lenten dinners, Rummage Sale, CROP Walk, Silent Auction, Christmas cards, Cards for Cass, Heifer International, Looking Glass Community Center, Pumpkin Patch.
In addition to specific projects, we also have continuous collections for: Labels and box tops for Red Bird Mission, cell phone and ink jet recycling, eye glasses recycling, plastic bag recycling, and non-perishable items for local food banks.
